About Us
The Lions Club of Melton was chartered in 1968 and is part of Lions Clubs International. Lions Club International is the world's largest service organisation with over 1.3 million members across more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Our aim is to provide service and assistance to the less fortunate in our own local community, as well as the wider community, whilst enjoying the fun and fellowship of our own and other club members. The club conducts a number of fundraising activities throughout the year and puts the money raised back into the community.
The club is active in supporting Youth projects such as the Lions Youth of the Year Quest, Lions Youth Exchange and providing scholarships to many local schools. The club is involved in cleaning up elderly peoples' yards, assisting fun runs and marathons, providing Santa to schools, kindergartens and children's hospital wards and helps with local litter clean up campaigns. The club has a very active role in supporting children with disabilities, in particular helping children with cerebral palsy (and other similar conditions) achieve the ability to walk independently.
Lions have been a part of the Australian community since 1947, and a proud part of the Melton community since 1968. They have been helping to serve the community without promise or want of reward. Lions are people just like you! Ordinary people doing extraordinary things! To Join a Lions Club is by invitation, however applications are encouraged from all interested members of the community.
Membership is open to men and women over the age of 18 years and of good moral character and reputation. If you are interested in joining Melton Lions and reaping the benefits of fellowship, and wanting to share in the strong sense of achievement and reward resulting in serving the Melton community and wider community in general, we look forward to hearing from you.
